The quote's validity period, and what happens when it expires
The fixed 14-day validity of the sent proposal, when the quote expires on its own and becomes Expired, and how to edit or reject it again after the deadline.

Where to find it
In the menu, under Quotes. The validity of a sent proposal is printed on the PDF the customer receives (the quote page doesn't show it); expired ones show in the list with the Expired status.
What it is
The proposal's validity: how long it lasts, where it shows, when the quote expires on its own, and what you can still do after the deadline passes.
How long the validity is
The validity is always 14 days: nobody picks it, and Send estimate doesn't ask for it. It counts from each send, and it is printed on the PDF the customer receives. See Send estimate: freeze and deliver the PDF to the customer.
A quote that never went through Send estimate has no deadline running.
The deadline belongs to the sent proposal
The validity isn't a loose date on the document: it applies to the sent version: the snapshot the customer received. It is printed on the PDF the customer receives; the quote page, in your company, doesn't show it.
Each resend is a new version, with a new 14-day validity. The deadline of a proposal already sent is never stretched.
Expiring is automatic: the Expired status
Once the deadline passes with no answer, the quote expires on its own. Nobody needs to click anything.
- On screen (in the list and on the quote page) it now shows as Expired, in red. In the list's Status filter, the option is also called Expired.
- In the conversation with Dri, the same state is called Expired.
Both names mean the same thing: the proposal no longer binds your company.
Only what is with the customer expires
This is the part that isn't obvious:
- a quote with the proposal in the customer's hands: status Waiting for customer approval (in the list, Waiting for customer · N days ago, counted from the last send). Once the deadline passes, it expires;
- a quote in Waiting, with your company's turn: the customer sent the order, or the proposal went back to editing. That one doesn't expire, because the wait is on your company, not on them.
A draft doesn't expire either.
What changes when the quote expires
The status becomes Expired, the history records the change, and the quote stops waiting on anyone: it leaves the waiting queues on both sides. It doesn't disappear from the list: the All active status filter still shows expired quotes, so you can decide what to do with them.
An expired quote can't be confirmed or edited.
After it expires: edit again or reject
There are two paths on the quote page:
- Edit again: you do it yourself, by clicking what you want to change. A notice says the validity has passed, and Edit estimate confirms. The quote goes back to Draft, you revise it, and the resend is the next version, with 14 new days of validity. It isn't "un-expiring": it is another proposal. See Edit a sent proposal: reopen, revise and resend.
- Reject, in Other actions: when the customer declined or gave up. It archives the quote, with the reason.
And, if the sale starts over from scratch, Duplicate creates a new quote without touching the expired one. See Duplicate and revise a quote.
Common questions
- The customer accepted after the deadline. The expired quote doesn't accept confirmation. Edit it again (open it and change what you need), resend it and record the acceptance of the new version with Customer confirmed.
- I want to give more time without changing anything. There is no way to extend it. Edit the quote again and send it again: the new send gets another 14 days.
- A quote sat in "Waiting" for months and didn't expire. It is your company's turn, and that doesn't expire. Answer the customer, send the estimate or reject it.
