# Change the product on a quote line

> Change the product on a quote line, what happens to quantity, price and stock after the change, and how to leave the line as not found.

## Where to find it

In the menu, under **Quotes**: open the document in editing (if you left editing,
**Resume editing** reopens it). On each line with a product, to the left of the code, there is
an arrows icon ⇄: **Change product**. The same applies in the editing
cart.

On an order distributed among branches, the ⇄ in the main list changes the product
in **all branches** ("Change product (all branches)"); each
branch's card has its own, which changes it **only in that branch**.

The ⇄ doesn't show on a kit (the composition is fixed), on a line that mirrors an item
of another order of the same purchase, or with the document out of editing.

## Step by step

1. Click the ⇄ next to the code.
2. A search opens with a line at the top saying what goes out:
**Replacing CODE · description**. When the customer wrote another code and the
system matched by it, the top also shows **read: …**. That is what was on the
document. On an allocated order, the top warns **applies to the N branches**.
3. The search opens with the line's current code, already selected. Type over it
the code or the description of the right product.
4. Click **Change** on the result (or use the arrows and Enter; Esc closes).
5. The screen confirms **Changed to CODE**, or **Changed to CODE in the N
   branches**.

On an allocated order, each branch's portions follow the change.

## The quantity after the change

In most changes, the line's quantity stays the same. It changes in two
cases, because the packaging that counts becomes the new product's:

- **The line was in boxes** (the document asked for, for example, "2 boxes"): the
number of boxes stays, and the pieces are recalculated by the new product's
packaging. If it packs 12 per box and the old one packed 10, the 20 pieces become 24.
- **The document had no quantity**, or it ended up below the new product's minimum
sale: the line moves to its minimum packaging, and shows as a
  presumed quantity. Check it.

After changing, look at the Quantity column before sending.

## When the right product doesn't show in the search

- **Search and replace in the catalog** opens the full search, with photo and filters,
  carrying what you already typed.
- **Leave as not found** removes the product from the line without putting another in
its place. It is for a line that matched a similar product by mistake.
If you type a code first, the button becomes **Leave not found as “X”** and the
line keeps that code. The screen confirms **Line left as not
found**. After that the line follows the not-found code rules.
See [Code not found on the quote: search, save for future or discard](/en/ajuda/codigo-nao-encontrado-na-cotacao).

⚠️ If the search didn't answer (network failure), **Leave as not found**
asks for a second click and warns: "The search didn't answer, so nobody can
say this product doesn't exist." Don't drop the product from a real line just
because the search went down.

## What the change discards

Changing the product erases from the line everything that was an answer **about the old
product**:

- **the stock read and the decision made about the shortage** (split now,
use what is available, keep…). The new product's stock is checked on its own
  right after;
- **the last paid price** the ERP had found for the old code:
  the lookup runs again for the new code;
- **the price applied by a "Use"** (from the document or the last paid), along
  with the **✓ … applied** badge and the discount it had produced;
- **the base price**, even if you typed it: it replaced the old
  product's table;
- the stock shortage record that line had left in the latent
  demand.

## What the change keeps

- **The fixed price typed by you**: "this customer pays X for this item"
still applies after the change. If it doesn't make sense for the new
product, delete the fixed price and the line goes back to the table.
- **The additional discount you granted** on the line.
- **The quantity**, except when the new product's packaging changes it. See the
section about the quantity after the change, above.

Changing and then changing back brings back **no** part of what was discarded: the
stock read and the last paid price are checked again, and the applied
price needs a new **Use**.

## A line with a corrected code

When Dri corrected a code while reading, the line's drawer brings the
**Code corrected** notice with **Change product** (the same search, opened from
the notice) and **keep (dismiss)**, for when the correction was right. On the
quote's reading screen, **Change product** takes you to editing with the search already
open on that line.

## Refresh the whole order

Changing one line already rechecks stock and last paid price on its own. To
reread **everything** (when the catalog got new products or the ERP changed since
the quote arrived), use **Other actions** → **Refresh the order**: it
"searches the codes in the catalog again and rereads stock and last paid prices". It doesn't
exist on a confirmed order or while a sent proposal is in effect.

## Common questions

**I changed the product and the price changed.** That's expected: the price comes from the new
product's table, and the old one's applied price or base price were discarded.
If you had typed a fixed price, it is still there.

**I changed it and the stock column shows "Checking stock…".** That is the ERP
lookup for the new product; it happens on its own right after the change.

**I don't see the ⇄.** The document isn't in editing, the line is a kit, or the line
belongs to another order of the same purchase (it is changed there).

**I changed it in the list and only one branch changed.** You used the ⇄ on the branch card,
which changes it only there. For all of them, use the ⇄ in the main list.
