# Promotional table: offer price with an expiry date

> For the administrator: create a promotional table with offer price and expiry date, decide whether it adds up with the customer discount and end the promotion.

## Where to find it

In your account menu, under **Prices**, **Price tables** tab. A promotional table is a
price table marked with the **promotion** badge; its validity and how it behaves with
discounts are in a yellow strip right below its row.

The promotion's prices come in through the spreadsheet import, in **Catalog and
exports** → **Import** tab.

## How the promotional table works

The promotional table **doesn't replace** the customer's commercial table. For each
product, Vendria first calculates the normal commercial price and then compares it with
the promotion's price:

- if the promotion is **cheaper**, it applies: on the product page, the table
  price appears struck through with the **Promotion** line right below;
- if it isn't cheaper, or if the product has no price in the promotion, the commercial
  price stays.

If two promotions apply to the same product, they don't add up: the
cheapest one applies. A price of 0 (or empty) in the promotion means "this product isn't on
offer", never "free".

⚠️ Customers whose price is decided by the ERP don't get Vendria promotions.

⚠️ The promotional table depends on the condition-based pricing engine, which Vendria
enables store by store. If the promotion doesn't show for any customer, check with
Vendria support whether the engine is active in your store.

## How to create a promotion

1. In **Prices**, **Price tables** tab, create a table with **Create table** (e.g. "Promo
   September").
2. In the row's three-dot menu, click **Mark as promotion**. The
   **promotion** badge and the yellow strip with the validity appear.
3. Set **Valid from** and **to**, if the promotion has an end date.
4. Load the prices by spreadsheet: in the catalog import, the offer
   column goes to this table. See [Load price table prices by spreadsheet](/en/ajuda/precos-das-tabelas-por-planilha).

You can also create the promotion straight from the spreadsheet: in the import, check the
**Promotional** box on the offer column's row (new table), or, in
**Update existing catalog**, choose **Create new table...** and check
**Promotional**.

## Promotion validity

In the promotional table's yellow strip:

- **Valid from**: the first day of the promotion;
- **to**: the last day; "until 31/08" covers the whole of the 31st;
- with no dates, the promotion always applies, until you deactivate it or remove the prices.

Dates are whole days in Brazil time. Clearing one of the dates leaves only the
other in effect. Validity is checked at each calculation: there's no need to
do anything on the day the promotion starts or ends.

A promotion created by the import is born **without dates**. If it needs to end on a
specific day, set the **to** here.

## The promotion and the customer's automatic discount

By default, the promotion **replaces** the customer's automatic discount instead of
adding to it: a customer with a 10% discount pays the offer price, without the 10%
on top.

Check **accepts automatic discounts** in the table's strip so that the customer's automatic
discount also applies on top of the promotion's price.

## How to end a promotion

Three ways:

- **by date**: set the **to**; the next day the promotion stops on its own;
- **from the menu**: **Deactivate** the table, or **Make commercial again**;
- **by full spreadsheet**: in **Import new catalog**, products that
  come without a positive price in the promotional column leave the promotion. A whole column
  of zeros ends the campaign. The result shows "N product(s) left the
  promotion".

⚠️ **Update existing catalog** only adds: a product that left the
spreadsheet **stays on promotion**. To end it by spreadsheet, use the full
import.

## What the promotional table can't do

- **it can't be the store's default**: the **Make default** option is disabled,
  and the default can't become a promotion;
- **it can't be chosen on the customer's profile** nor in a **price rule**: the
  promotion is applied on its own to whoever is entitled;
- **it doesn't create products**: a spreadsheet with only promotional prices doesn't register
  new products, because they would have no commercial price. Import the products
  first and the promotion afterwards.

## When it goes wrong

**"The promotion doesn't show for the customer."** Check: the table is active, with the
**promotion** badge, within its validity; the product has a promotion price lower than
that customer's commercial price; the customer isn't one with ERP pricing.

**"In the import the column came marked as Promotional on its own."** The wizard
suggests it from the column name ("suggested by name"). Uncheck it if it isn't an offer.

**"'no offer in ~N% of rows' appeared."** The promotional column has many
zeros or blanks. That's normal in an offer spreadsheet: those products
simply aren't on promotion.
