# Freight and delivery: default freight mode and delivery time

> For the administrator: set the default freight mode, the delivery time in business days and the freight type lock for buyers.

## Where to find it

In your account menu, under **Commercial Rules**, in the **Freight and Delivery** section
("Default freight mode and delivery time."). It applies to the store your
session is in. See [Commercial rules and discount](/en/ajuda/regras-comerciais-e-desconto).

There are three controls: **Default Freight Mode**, **Default Delivery
Time** and **Lock Freight Type for Buyers**.

## Default Freight Mode

The options are the invoice freight modes:

- **CIF (Freight paid by the Sender)**
- **FOB (Freight paid by the Recipient)**
- **Freight paid by Third Parties**
- **Own Transport (Sender)**
- **Own Transport (Recipient)**
- **No Transport**

The default mode only **fills in freight that came empty** on a new quote.
The order is: what the customer's order already said; the freight on the customer's record;
on a quote credited to a rep agency, the default freight it defined; and only
then the store's default. In a store integrated with an ERP, the freight the customer
usually uses there can also fill the empty field. The default never rewrites
a freight already chosen, and quotes already created don't change.

## Default Delivery Time, in business days

The number you type becomes the **estimated delivery** of new quotes (on a
quote credited to a rep agency that defined its own time, its time applies):
today plus that number of business days. Saturdays and Sundays are skipped;
holidays aren't. With 5 business days, a quote created on a Friday starts with an
estimate for the following Friday.

An estimate filled in this way is a date like any other: it goes on the PDF and
follows the order.

⚠️ In some stores integrated with an ERP the quote doesn't ask for an estimated delivery,
because the ERP itself fills it in. In those, if there is a default time here, the
filled-in date still follows the order, and the seller sees it read-only,
with the option to remove it. If your store leaves the date to the ERP, leave this field
at 0.

To remove the default time, type **0** and leave the field. ⚠️ Just deleting the
number doesn't clear the saved value: when you reload the page it comes back.

## Lock Freight Type for Buyers

When on, the order the **buyer** submits goes out with the default mode, even
if they chose another. The seller can still change the freight on the
quote. The customer's record can have its own lock, which applies instead
of the store's; and locking without having a default makes the freight go out empty on the
buyer's order.

## Freight, carrier and ERP

The freight mode is one thing; the **carrier** is another, with its own
record. See [Carriers: registration and what comes from the ERP](/en/ajuda/transportadoras).

If the store sends orders to the ERP and you want to require a carrier before
sending, the switch is **Require a carrier to send to the ERP**, under **Orders and
Stock**. See [Orders and stock: approval, minimum order, stock and packaging](/en/ajuda/pedidos-e-estoque-regras-comerciais).

## When it goes wrong

**I changed the default freight and open quotes still have the old one.** The default
only fills in new documents, or fields still empty.

**I chose None and the default freight came back.** ⚠️ Today choosing **None** in
**Default Freight Mode** doesn't erase the saved default: the screen says
**Saved**, but on reload the old value comes back. Switch to another mode
or ask support to clear it.

**The estimated delivery fell on a holiday.** The calculation only skips weekends.
Fix the date on the quote.

**The buyer chose FOB and the order went out CIF.** Freight is locked for
buyers, in the store or on the customer's record, and the default is CIF.
