# Create and manage price tables

> For the administrator: create price tables per store, rename, make default, mark as promotion, deactivate or delete a table.

## Where to find it

In your account menu, under **Prices**, **Price tables** tab, in the
**Price Tables** card.
If the organization has more than one store, choose the store in the selector in the corner of the
card before anything else: the table created or changed always belongs to the store that
is shown there, and its name appears in the card's text ("Price lists of ...").

## How to create a price table

1. In the **New table name (e.g. ES - ICMS 7%)** field, type the name.
2. Click **Create table** (or press Enter).
3. The message "Table ... created." confirms it, and the table enters the list with
   **0 prices**.

The store's **first** commercial table automatically becomes the default: the screen
says so when the store does not have one yet: "Create the first one above — it automatically becomes
the default."

The table is born empty. Prices come in by spreadsheet. See [Load price table prices by spreadsheet](/en/ajuda/precos-das-tabelas-por-planilha).

Two creation rules:

- the name is unique in the store: repeating an existing name gives "Table '...' already exists
  in this store.";
- the store can have at most 10 active tables ("Maximum of 10 tables per
  store."). Deactivated tables do not count.

## What each row of the list shows

Each table is a row with:

- the **name**, editable: click it, type and leave the field (or press Enter)
  to save; the message **Name updated.** confirms it;
- the badges: **default**, **promotion** and **inactive**;
- **N buyer companies**: how many customers have this table chosen on their
  profile. It is the number that shows who changes price if the table goes away;
- **N prices**: how many products have a price in this table;
- the actions menu (the three dots).

## The actions in a table's menu

In the three-dot menu of each row:

- **Make default**: the table starts applying to anyone who does not have another one; the previous
  default stops being the default. On the current default the item appears as **This is the default
  table**. It does not apply to a promotional table or an inactive table;
- **Deactivate** / **Activate**: takes the table out of use without deleting the prices. On the
  default it shows **Always active**, because the default cannot be deactivated;
- **Mark as promotion** / **Make commercial again**: changes the table's
  type. The default cannot become a promotion;
- **Delete**: deletes the table and all its prices. Not available on the default.

One action at a time: while one table is saving, the menus of the others are
locked.

## Deactivate a price table

Deactivating takes the table out of the price choice, but keeps the prices: **Activate**
brings everything back.

When there are buyer companies with the table chosen on their profile, the screen asks for
confirmation: "N buyer companies use this table and will start using the store's
default." In practice, those customers go back to the normal choice path: a
price rule that reaches them or, without a rule, the store's default.

While it is inactive, the table does not appear to be chosen on the customer's profile
or in the price rules.

## Delete a price table

⚠️ Deleting is permanent: the confirmation says how many prices the table has and how many
buyer companies use it, and ends with "This action cannot be undone."

Deletion is **refused** when:

- the table is the default ("Cannot delete the default table.");
- it is the only active commercial table ("Cannot delete the only active
  table.");
- there are price rules pointing to it ("This table is used by N price
  rule(s). Remove the rules before deleting it.").

Customers who had the table chosen on their profile lose that choice and go back to the
normal path. If you only want to stop using the table for a while, prefer
**Deactivate**.

## Change the store's default table

1. Open the menu of the table that should become the default.
2. Click **Make default**.
3. The message **Default table updated.** confirms it; the **default** badge moves to another
   row.

The default applies to every customer who has no table on their profile and no price rule.
Documents already sent do not change; drafts pick up the new price when they are
touched. See [Price tables](/en/ajuda/tabelas-de-preco).

## When it goes wrong

**"Cannot deactivate the default table."** Make another table the default first.

**"Cannot make a deactivated table the default."** Activate the table first.

**"The default table cannot become promotional. Mark another one as default first."**
Change the default and then mark this one as a promotion.

**"I created the table and it has 0 prices."** That is expected: prices come in through the
spreadsheet import.
