# Extra catalog attributes: reapply without reimporting

> For the administrator: fix brand, color, NCM and other extra product attributes by reapplying a spreadsheet already imported, without reimporting the catalog.

## Where to find it

In your account menu, under **Catalog and exports**, **Import** tab, on the
**Column Mapping** card, **Extra attributes** block. The **Edit** button sits
next to the block's title.

The card only has content after the store's first catalog import.

## What extra attributes are

Extra attributes are the spreadsheet columns that are not code, description,
price, stock, unit or packaging, but that you want to keep on each product:
brand, application, material, color, voltage, NCM. They appear on the
**Attributes** card of the product page, help search find the product and can
serve as a filter in product lists.

Each attribute has three things:

- the **Attribute key**: the name under which the attribute is stored (e.g.:
  `marca`, `aplicacao`);
- the spreadsheet **Column** the value comes from;
- the **Type**: **Text** or **Numeric**.

In read mode the block lists each key with its column next to it; with none,
it says **No extra attribute set up.**

## When to reapply instead of reimporting

Use **Edit** when the import has already been done and you noticed that a column
was left out, came in with the wrong name or with the wrong type. Reapplying reads
again a spreadsheet that has already been imported and rewrites **only the attributes** of the
products: it does not touch price, stock or description, nor create or deactivate any product.

It is safer than reimporting the entire catalog to fix one attribute.

## Step by step to reapply the extra attributes

1. In **Extra attributes**, click **Edit**.
2. If the store has more than one stored spreadsheet, choose in **Source file**
   which import to read the columns from.
3. The list shows the current attributes turned on and the other spreadsheet columns
   turned off. For each row:
   - turn the **Active** switch on or off;
   - adjust the **Attribute key**, if you want a different name;
   - choose the **Type**: **Text** or **Numeric**.
4. Click **Save and Reapply**. A bar shows the stages (**Reading
   file...**, **Processing...**, **Saving...**, **Indexing...**).
5. To give up without changing anything, click **Cancel**.

Columns that are already price, stock by location, price table, tax or
cross-reference do not appear in the list: they already have their own place.

## ⚠️ Save and Reapply replaces the attributes entirely

Reapplying does not add up: for each product found in the chosen spreadsheet, the
attributes become **exactly** the ones turned on in the list. An attribute
you turn off (including one that already existed, such as the brand) disappears from the
products that are in that spreadsheet.

Before saving, check that every attribute you want to keep has
**Active** turned on.

What is not affected:

- products that are **not** in the chosen spreadsheet keep the attributes they have;
- deactivated products are not touched;
- in a store whose catalog is synced with the ERP, the attributes the ERP defines
  (brand, line, NCM and others) are preserved.

## Where the reapply spreadsheet comes from

Reapplying only reads **full import** spreadsheets (**Import new
catalog**) stored by Vendria. The three most recent ones of each
store are stored; older ones and those from **Update existing catalog** do not appear in
**Source file**.

With no stored spreadsheet, reapplying warns that it found no import
file: import the catalog first.

## When it goes wrong

**"Duplicate keys"**: two active rows with the same **Attribute
key**. Rename one of them.

**"All active attributes need a key"**: an active row was left
with a blank key.

**"No extra columns available. Import a catalog to see the columns."**:
there is no stored spreadsheet to read, or all the columns are already somewhere else.

**"I reapplied and the brand disappeared from some products."** The brand key was
turned off in the list. Edit again, turn the key on and save.
